AUGUST NEWSLETTER
We hope you all had a fantastic summer and welcome everyone back for the start of a new session.
New Member of Staff
We would like to welcome Mrs Rebecca Ferguson to Strathdearn and wish her well in her post of P4/5 teacher (mornings).
CCR
Class Contact Reduction Time this year will be covered by Mrs Liz Danby (PE) and Mrs Shona Pringle (Expressive Arts).
School Improvement Plan
The key projects in our School Improvement Plan this session are
1. Teaching for Effective Learning
2. Eco-School Green Flag Status
3. Develop Core Reading, Reading for Information, Reading for Enjoyment and Writer’s Craft. We shall also be reviewing our vision statement and school aims in consultation with pupils and parents.
Parent Council AGM Meeting
The AGM of the Parent Council will be held at Strathdearn Primary on Thursday 28 August at 7pm.
Awards for All
The Parent Council were successful in being awarded £6,818 from Awards for All which will go towards the garden development, gymnastics, football, shinty and tennis equipment, transport and coaching.
Class Topics
This term our topics covered will be:
P1-4 ‘Our Community of Strathdearn’
P4-7 Fair Trade incorporating Malawi.
Flora Cooking with Schools
We are now collecting promotional lids from all Flora packs for cooking equipment.
Assembly
Rev. Campbell will continue to visit the school on a fortnightly basis to lead whole school assemblies.
‘Keep us in the Picture’

Playground Equipment
The installation of the new playground equipment will hopefully go ahead during the October holidays.
Gymnastics Club
Mrs Danby will continue to run the gymnastics after-school club for P4-7 pupils on Wednesdays from 3.30-4.30pm.
Children must have a permission slip to attend.
Playground Supervisor
We are currently looking for someone to help supervise P1-3 pupils between 3.00pm and 3.30pm on a daily basis. If you would be interested in this position please contact the school office.
